Overnight Success
The Nerdery Overnight Website Challenge hereby rears its head to again gather volunteer web pros and nonprofits to spend 24 hours making websites and losing sleep. We’ve done this twice now and, as far as we know, no nerds and no nonprofits have been harmed. So, we’re ready and rested enough to host another talent show for do-gooder types with mad programming chops, and, since there are still several good nonprofits with bad websites, let’s do this.
Save the date/Lose some sleep: March 20-21, 2010
On the weekend of March 20-21, 2010, another army of web nerds will again donate 24 hours – in a row – at the rather reasonable rate of a good night’s sleep.
When we consider the collective positive impact nonprofits make in our community, losing some sleep to help them work smarter online – and further their mission – seems like a wise and worthwhile investment.
For Nonprofits
Registration for nonprofits is now closed. Selected nonprofits won’t pay a penny for 200+ hours of professional web dev services. Several nonprofits made their case of why their website is worth losing sleep over. Qualified orgs have:
- registered as a 501c3 non-profit organization in Minnesota
- articulated their organization’s mission and web needs
- declared themselves open to new possibilities and able to stay awake to see them realized
For Web Pros
Registration for developers is now closed, and 16 teams of web pros have volunteered their time and talent to help make their designated nonprofit’s day (and night, next morning and online future). Qualified volunteers have:
- professional web development experience
- grace under pressure and the ability to stay up all night
- the desire to do good work for the greater good
